Semaglutide
and how it works:
In 2005 a class of medications known as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists were developed to help people with type 2 diabetes control their blood sugar levels. Over years of research and use, these medications further revealed that they had the potential to help with weight loss! Semglutide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist.
GLP-1 is a naturally occurring hormone released in your stomach in response to food. This hormone acts on your brains satiety center, providing the sensation of fullness after a meal.
It is suggested that some people may not release enough GLP-1 during meals, leading to their overeating and weight struggles.
Semaglutide mimics the actions of GLP-1, decreasing your appetite so you eat less and lose weight.
People who take GLP-1 agonists will:
Feel fuller longer
Have improved glucose levels
Reduce cravings
Compounding semaglutide with vitamin B12 can enhance the effectiveness of the medication and lessen side effects. At Elle Weight Loss we use compounded medications. These prescribed medications will still come from a trusted pharmacy and are considered safe and beneficial to many patients for various reason. Although compounded and brand name medications are very similar, the FDA does not grant approval on compounded products. For more information on this topic visit the link below:
Semaglutide and like medications have proved to be very effective treatments for adults with obesity as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. As with any weight-loss program, lifestyle changes are necessary for long-term weight management. Increasing your daily physical activity and making healthy dietary changes while taking Semaglutide is an ideal combination that can improve overall health, lead to greater weight loss, and reduced the likelihood of weight regain once the medication is discontinued.
To qualify for a medical weight loss program that includes weekly Semaglutide injections, you need to be considered obese, which means that you have a BMI of 30 or higher, or be considered overweight (a BMI of 27 or higher) with at least one weight-related health condition such as high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
